Vixen - Achromatic Refractor Telescopes
A70Lf 70mm Achromatic Refractor Telescopes
The A70Lf, although inexpensive, is not a toy telescope. Many amateurs begin with and enjoy countless hours
under the stars with this instrument It has the same quality glass and exacting workmanship that goes into our
much larger instruments.
With this size aperture you will, as I did, be on your way to discovering the craters and mountains on our
moon, the rings around Saturn and the storms on Jupiter. With a star chart you'll find beautiful double stars
of varying colors, and on moonless nights, you will see the Andromeda Galaxy, The Orion Nebula and hundreds of
other Deep Sky objects.
If you are looking to start out with something a little larger than a beginner scope or need a better finder
scope for your large telescope, the A80Mf is the one to buy. Although it is just 10mm larger than its smaller
cousin the A70Lf, this extra aperture will reveal more detail in solar system objects and the deep sky alike.
I find myself using the 80mm size for terrestrial viewing of ships on the ocean or whale watching. With an
optional sun projection accessory I have viewed sun spots projected onto a white surface. (Of course NEVER
look at the sun directly). The A80MfLf, although inexpensive is not a toy telescope. It has the same quality
glass and exacting workmanship that goes into our much larger instruments.
If you are in the mind to own a quality telescope that is designed for travel, there is nothing better than
the A80SS. It's our newest short focal length 80mm refractor. This is a great cross-over astronomical and
terrestrial scope.
The A80SS is extremely portable. It is small enough to be mounted on a photo tripod for the casual
astronomical / terrestrial observer with enough aperture for excellent deep sky viewing. The optical tube
comes standard with our red dot finder, 2" focuser, flip mirror diagonal and dovetail tube plate for quick and
easy mounting.
At less than 11" with dew shield flipped, the Vixen A80SS is the ultimate grab-n-go travel scope!
The New Mini-Porta comes equipped with two fine adjustment handles for
whole circle slow motion in both directions, very useful in searching and
tracking celestial objects. In addition, this is a great mount for
terrestrial viewing. Vixen's gear drives make it a simple matter to
precisely track a planet or a ship on the horizon by simply turning the
elevation and or azimuth control handles. The "World-Standard" dovetail
attachment system on PORTA was developed by Vixen. This allows the PORTA to
accept various dovetail mounted optical tubes and binoculars.
Weighing in at 14.3 lbs this 5.5 inch Vixen telescope is an incredible
performer. Deep Sky objects are easily visible and Astro-Imagers looking
for a fast instrument with clear aperture will be impressed with the
NA140's performance. The advanced 4-element objective lens, set in two
groups, minimizes residual chromatic aberrations. With its unique Petzval
like correcting lens at the rear, this Neo-Achromatic telescope is
specifically designed to provide improved color and a flat field, ideal for
astrophotography.
For so many years the beginning astronomer was forced to buy a mount that
was unstable and almost useless when viewing at high power. More often than
not, the frustration of using an unstable mount resulted in the telescope
only being used for one night and being left in a closet to collect dust.
The Porta mount changes all that. It is one of our proudest designs. The
combination of smooth movement, rigid design and stable platform makes your
first use a pleasure and will bring you back to view more and more of the
night sky.
The PORTA comes equipped with two fine adjustment handles for whole circle
slow motion in both directions. It is useful for fine motion used in
searching and tracking of celestial objects. In addition it is a great
mount for terrestrial viewing. Our gear drives it make it a simple matter
