Triple Air-Spaced Apochromatic Refractors

80mm Series 5000 ED APO Optical Tube Assemblies

For crisp wide field observing and imaging, nothing can beat a true triple-element apochromatic refractor (APO). This is especially true in astrophotography, where APOs have produced some of the most beautiful images of the heavens ever taken from earth. But not all APOs are created equal. Today's market is filled with semi-APOs (with two lenses instead of three) that don't bring all the colors to focus in the refractor. Thanks to a two-year design process and a triple objective lens made from the highest quality ED (extra-low dispersion) glass, Meade Series 5000 ED APO Triplets are virtually free of chromatic aberration (color fringing). This means they outperform the most expensive semi-APOs at a fraction of the cost. Expert observers will be delighted by the total absence of color fringing and the scope's textbook-perfect pinpoint star images. Even beginners will notice the breathtaking high contrast and resolution of a Series 5000 APO. One astronomer commented that the Series 5000 APO "kicked butt on my semi-APO that cost twice as much." TeleVue 102i

Televue's newest model APO refractor (102mm aperture, 880mm focal length, f/8.6) is designed to permit lower power, wider field binocular viewing - all in a more compact form. The Tele Vue-102i sports the same overall length as the Tele Vue NP-101, making it easier to transport. It will fit in the NP-101's soft carry bag (product code NPB-1001).

ED81S 80mm ED Apochromatic Refractor Telescopes

When The ED81S was introduced last year it set a new standard for 80mm APO Refractors. The combination
of better color correction from the new ED glass and brighter images from it's fast f/7.7 focal ratio
will satisfy the most demanding visual astronomer or astro-photographer.

The new ED glass is made from environmentally friendly lead free materials. The optical tube is very
stable yet light weight. The top carry handle also includes a 1/2-20 stud for piggyback camera
mounting.
